What your going to have to do most likely is go to accounts and remove that gmail account and then add it back again, it shouldnt take that long to do this and it will solve your problem

Yeah its a software thing with all the US galaxy s phones and samsung is aware of it. They said they are working on it, so be patient and im sure when they release froyo for the phone then the gps fix will come with it

itookthisonmyphone i know backs up pictures but im not sure about videos, it does give you the option to upload automatically to picasa or any other website that does thaat kind of stuff, try it out though, it cant hurt

Try and download handbrake, its free and takes a bit but i use it to convert all my avi's to mp4's, there is also a handy queue feature where you can set up a bunch of movie files and let it run overnight and it will convert them for you
