I don't think that it is possible to block a SMS before it reaches the phone, only your career can. How could an app block a SMS when the app doesn't know that a SMS will arrive? Maybe there is an app which deletes the SMS immediately.

Very strange, when I had 7.0.99 and uninstalled updates of gmail, it worked for me, too. But with new play services it is no problem for me to update gmail. Posted via the Android Central App
