Let's be productive here. if you tried everything else swap out the battery. I just looked on ebay and saw a bunch of OEM batteries for under $20. I'd recommend sticking with the OEM to ensure you're comparing oranges to oranges. If I was in your exact predicament, I'd go to a Verizon CORPORATE...

Yes, you can drill up to a 1 inch hole, 1/4 inch deep. You'll get better results drilling through the screen though.

I absolutely LOVE the battery life on my Note 4!! This thing seems to last as long as the old zero feature flip phones.

Did you remove the piece of protective film from the camera lens.? The only smartphone camera I've had/used that was better was the Nokia Lumia 928.

I beat the hello out of mine. Dropped it a dozen times on hard surfaces. No scratches out blemishes on camera.

I too tired of rooting. I have personally seen no need foot it on my Note 4.
