I encountered the same issues as you did, with headphones having impedance ratings higher than 30 Ohms. The shortcomings glare even worse with Equalizer utilities/apse. It turns out that the DAC ( DIGITAL ANALOG CONVERTER) on the S7 is actually pretty good. BUT the amplifier section is weak...
