If I need to connect it to a working screen, do I assume it has to be the same model ( S3 ? )

Hi, I have a similar problem, where I need to transfer files from my phone that has a broken screen ( Black ). However, my phone had encryption turned on and I believe it is stuck asking for the encryption password screen.... Any idea's on how to get pass this screen, to do a file transfer...
