Mine does the same thing. Power the phone down and let it shut all the way down and wait 15 to 20 second then plug it in. that is what I have to do with mine.

I am running Android 2.3.5 and from what I read on the net att pushed 2.3.6 in November. When I check for updates it says my software is up to date. Any ideas why? Is the update even worth worrying about anyway? Thanks in advance for the help.
