You can also get rid of it by going to Settings/apps/all/Google Services Framework and unchecking the Show Notifications box.

Nope, I thought it might do that as well, but I powered down shortly after making the change and had a notification waiting for 3 apps to be updated when I powered back up. I scrolled past a Google Play services app to get to the framework, so that probably handles the app updates.

Like the OP, I am also quite happy with my current 4.3 setup and have no plans to upgrade to 4.4 unless I am forced to do it. I would like to get rid of the notification though. Any way to dismiss it and never see it again?

It took over a month, but it seems they have updated the app. Video is now supported in 4.3.

If there was a simple "Rollback to Previous OS Version" button available, I would push it without a second thought. Now would I be willing to wipe my N4 and reload it from some downloaded 4.2.2 backup image that some anonymous person uploaded to a sketchy side loading website? Probably not...

Got mine today too. Agree with all of your assessments. After using it half a day, the one concern I have going forward is the lint thing. It really does look filthy. Hopefully it just needs to be broken in and will disappear in a few days. Still the best option I have tried yet though.
