[Guide] Tools and Information for Mac OS X Users - Updated 04/07

Hm, okay so we still don't know if you can go with SC even if un-rooted or if we need rustle up Odin on a PC and go all the way back for the update since Hook33 was already with a official rom. So Braydon, should we sit tight and see what you come up with?

Now that the official Froyo will be coming out tomorrow- how do we go about updating to that if we choose to? Do we do the standard install without it affecting our rooted phones? Or do we need to unroot, or what?

This may have been where I was stuck as well. I didn't fully understand how to reboot the phone properly and found info elsewhere. Don't quote me on this, but it was something like hold the up and down volume buttons in at the same time while pressing the power button. Wait to see the first...

No, my phone was always usable. Nothing was ever "damaged"- mostly things didn't take the first time and I had to re-try. I don't know if that is normal, but that was my case. When I was finished everything was still there that I had personally put on the phone like my contacts and apps, which...

    1) Yes, if you update you can mount the Fascinate on you Mac as mass storage 2) You do not need Windows or Odin if you follow the instructions at the beginning of this thread- someone else will have to answer about backing it up; after I finished the process (which took me several tries)...

I thought the Fascinate was a Verizon branded Galaxy S?

Thanks, I apreciate it. Also, seems like I read somewhere that there is a Gingerbread rom for the Galaxy S- is it possible to use all your instructions and flash with this rom?

I've having issues with Mixzing and PowerAmp. In the PowerAmp forum the developer said the issue is a problem with rooted phones. That's the ONLY reason I want to un-root but I don't want to loose 2.2 so that's why I was wondering if I could have my cake and eat it too :)

I have issues with some apps now that I'm rooted. Can I use the un-rooted instructions on page 1 without it affecting 2.2? In other words, I've followed all the instructions on page 1 to get to 2.2 and now wonder if I can simply un-root and everything else will stay the same or do I need a PC...

I don't even get the "initialize" option anymore. I persisted and got past my errors and went to finish the install and now all I get is the disk in un-readable! You can ignore the "initialize" like was said in previous posts for root, but now I can't even get a reading at all. Very strange...

Since Samsung WON'T fix the Mac sync problem

Samsung is notorious with the lack of Mac support for their MP3 players as well. South Korea doesn't have a lot of Macs, so they bypass it a lot. I must be post-updates because I've NEVER been able to sync with my Macbook along with others. You could try this (and you may have already)...
