I had the same problem w/ my Samsung S6 Edge +. Hit your Text Message Icon. Click on "More" in the upper rt corner. Hit "Settings". Hit "Chat Settings". Swipe to OFF on "Send Read Receipt". Now others w Samsung S6 or higher will no longer know if you read the message, and will not see you typing !
