I would prefer to use Hangouts, but it is missing the most important feature for my needs: being able to set custom notification alerts for each contact. I need that audible alert to let me know if I need to read something right away or not. Textra provides this feature so I will be sticking...

It looks to me like the Nexus 4 won't even be made available here (Canada) today. The "Coming soon! Available for purchase on Tuesday, Nov. 13th" banner has been removed from the N4 page, whereas it is still up for the N10.

New to the forums and first post, I've been doing a lot of reading here lately. I am a long time iOS/ iPhone guy, but even more deeply rooted n the Google ecosystem. I have always liked the Android platform (both my kids have Android phones) but been put off by carrier control over updates...
