If you have the latest version installed, everything's cool. You may wish to use Smart Install and Clean Mode; I did. I had many of the same questions, so I went here: http://busybox.net/FAQ.html

An alternative to (1) above is to re-boot into Recovery, and then restore from a previous backup.

(1) Just remove the USB connection to your PC, and then remove the battery cover. Remove the battery from your phone. Wait about a minute, re-install the battery and back cover, then re-boot. You should then have a normal re-start; everything's well.

Copy your selected music files to the "Ringtones" folder on your Internal SD card. They will then appear in the index when you go to: Settings - Sound - Device Ringtone
