    DROID BIONIC Jelly Bean Update

Why aren't your databases being stored on your SD card instead of internal memory? Have you tried SS? I don't find it to be "kludgey" at all...quite the opposite, in fact. It's pretty slick. I am a self-professed ROM addict - you'll never convince me that stock is better than what the devs...

    DROID BIONIC Jelly Bean Update

A friend of mine with unrooted stock has had the same general complaint, that performance is worse than with ICS. She hasn't done an FDR, yet, though. I suspect that will fix a lot of it. And, as Sam said, you need to root to touch any system apps.

Ah, thanks for the crash course! I definitely thought both the native and second kernel were running in parallel (and furthermore, that the first was necessary for the second to run at all times). Neat.

Fair enough :p I suppose I figured that KEXEC ran on top of the native kernel and so you're essentially running two kernels...which seems inefficient. If nothing else, you have to dedicate at least SOME resources to the "real" kernel, don't you? Perhaps I just don't understand how it works.

    DROID BIONIC Jelly Bean Update

Check out: Droid Bionic Android Development - xda-developers AFAIK, the 4.2.2 ROMs aren't any different now than they were prior to the JB OTA. I'm hoping there will be a non-KEXEC AOSP 4.1 ROM out soon. Seems to me that KEXEC ROMs can't be as stable or fast as one using the native kernel...

Back up your data/apps and do a factory reset.

    DROID BIONIC Jelly Bean Update

Well, I didn't use HoB...I preserved root when I updated, so it was a system app before (which, perhaps, is why I didn't have to do anything special, despite having partial root after update). Anyway, converting it to a user app definitely fixed the problem. How do I convert the new Superuser...

    DROID BIONIC Jelly Bean Update

I "uninstalled" ChainDD's via ROM Toolbox because it's set as a system app...uninstall was successful according to Toolbox (it no longer shows up in the app list), but it's still showing up in the app drawer. Weird. Upon a reboot, it automatically updates itself (and shows up in Toolbox...

    DROID BIONIC Jelly Bean Update

Before I make a mistake that I regret, I just want to double-check this, even though the answer seems obvious: I'm already rooted in JB and using ChainsDD's Superuser...

    DROID BIONIC Jelly Bean Update

I assume this is the thread you're referring to: Bionic on tmobile - xda-developers It's a big thread (100+ pages) and the OP is just the question, not the how-to...and since I have HW B, I feel like the HW A instructions aren't sufficient. I could be wrong, though. I just haven't had a...

roadpizza73: did you say you've gotten the GSM radio unlocked on JB, now?

Weird...it's still there for me. Using the volume-down and power buttons? Definitely still there. I was under the impression that different API levels (16 for 4.1, 17 for 4.2) require different kernels, though I could definitely be wrong.

Oh, I agree. The 100 just doesn't provide any benefits for me, personally, as I was hoping for laptop functionality (like ethernet, video-out, webcam, etc). I realize the 500 does those things.

Just realized the aforementioned lapdock is the 100 and not the 500. I think $50 for that is still too much for me :p
