I had the same issue with my S4 where at least everyday it was saying "SIM card not detected". So I did what many said seemed to work, put a small piece of double sided sticky foam tape cut about 3/8" long and 1/4" wide and stuck over the SIM/SD Card reader RIBBON and snapped the plastic back...
