That 2nd screen...If you drag an app to it (Spotify, sms, email, settings, etc.) means you can access the entire device without going through a security code or password pattern. I don't know if that was any part of it but usually new devices get a barrage of updates the first month or two

Mine has voice quality issues as well. The sound card that Spotify plays through isn't very good compared to my older devices and EQ features are either unable to operate, or the factory MusicFX isn't very good.
