For some odd reason I can't set a passcode of any type. I set the pattern and confirm it. Then I put the phone to sleep to see if it activated and it doesn't. Once I swipe on the lockscreen it goes right into the phone bypassing what I set up. Am I doing something wrong? Secondly, is there a...

I want to root my note, however if I do so will I need to unroot it to upgrade to ics or does that only matter if I unlock the bootloader also? Thanks for any replies.
