Nexus 6P's Google Now + Whatsapp Problem

I think so. Most of us had the issue resolve itself automatically over at Google's end. That was a few weeks back. If you're still having issues, then your problem might be one that is local to your phone.

Nexus 6P's Google Now + Whatsapp Problem

Hey guys - IT'S WORKING now. I've not done anything special. Went to bed last night, tried it - failed. Woke up this morning and everything started going again. It is definitely something going on over at Google's server-side. Give it a shot guys.

Nexus 6P's Google Now + Whatsapp Problem

Re: Nexus 6P's Google Now + Whatsapp Problem [Probably FIX?] Thanks Marcio. I can confirm that Whatsapp stopped working somewhere around the 14th March as well. Unfortunately I don't think i can roll back my GN version because my phone is not rooted.

Nexus 6P's Google Now + Whatsapp Problem

It works man. I'm on marshmallow. Even with no internet connection, Google now will work to bring up contacts, open apps, etc... anything that can be done locally on the phone - Google Now will do it.

Nexus 6P's Google Now + Whatsapp Problem

Okay solution found! (Kudos to KillerQ for figuring this one out). Basically, there IS NO FIX and you'll have to wait till Google fixes things server side. PROOF: Turn on your AIRPLANE MODE. Then run Google Now voice command on whatsapp. You'll see that everything works without an internet...

Nexus 6P's Google Now + Whatsapp Problem

"My guess is that google first looks on its own servers for contact information, finds redundant or deleted contacts, can't figure out how to map them and finishes off with an error instead of looking further for acutally existing contacts." Nils: this might not be true because normal sms's...

Nexus 6P's Google Now + Whatsapp Problem

Still no luck on my side guys. We all know that assigning nicknames will work with voice. But so far no clue as to what is causing the issue. Something must have gotten updated over at Google's or Whatsapps servers, which has stuffed the connection between our contacts and whatsapp...

Nexus 6P's Google Now + Whatsapp Problem

Mine hasn't been working for the past 7 days. Previous to that it has been flawless. I don't think it happened after an update either. What's the story with you guys? How long has this been an issue for?

Nexus 6P's Google Now + Whatsapp Problem

Hey Nils, What you suggested will work - I don't doubt it. But I'm working with KillerQ at the moment to find out what the heck is really going on at a deeper level as I want a proper fix, not a patch. KillerQ reckons we're kinda close to finding the cause of the problem. Let's see what he says...

Nexus 6P's Google Now + Whatsapp Problem

KILLERQ: Just uninstalled Google Now Launcher's updates. Also unpaired the watch. Then I tried the usual - no go still. What changed now though is that Google recognises that Mum=Pat. So that part is back.

Nexus 6P's Google Now + Whatsapp Problem

KillerQ: Nope I haven't uninstalled updates for Google Now. Wonder how far back this will take me. I'll try it now. PS: Sent you a PM.

Nexus 6P's Google Now + Whatsapp Problem

Just tried the assignment process. Chose Pat.. Then tried whatsapp. No go still. You don't have an account for Pat.

Nexus 6P's Google Now + Whatsapp Problem

OK, here's the latest: - Send whatsapp to mom = You don't have an account for Pat - Sen whatsapp to Pat = you don't have an account for Pat

Nexus 6P's Google Now + Whatsapp Problem

Correct. Exactly as you said. What's even weirder KillerQ... I changed my mum's name back from Danny to "Pat". Tried to send a whatsapp again, to "Mom" - guess what? It doesn't work anymore...

Nexus 6P's Google Now + Whatsapp Problem

Okay edited my mum's contact to call her "Danny". Same deal. Send whatsapp to Danny - You don't have an account for danny. Damn... strike this one off.
