Thanks. I'll either return it or try the Odin route (I'm a bit cautious of the Odin route as I've never tried that before, and based on stuff I was reading online it was complicated, and some people seemed to have problems getting it to work)

Model number is SM-G960U (though it was sold as a SM-G960U1). My understanding is the fully unlocked/from Samsung is the U1 version, and I have a carrier version, but I'm not positive on that. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Alas, that doesn't seem to work (or I'm using it wrong). It says "your device software is up to date: RK1(ATT)"

Just in case anyone is curious if tried it. With the maps downloaded for the whole area of the trip I used about 45MB going from North of Dallas to central Houston.

How much data should I expect Google maps to use when navigating on a long trip? And does it make any difference if you download a map, but keep data on? (I haven't been able to determine if Google Maps uses the downloaded map even if you have a connection). I know HERE maps has a hybrid mode...

I figured out a (less than ideal) way to get it to stop talking on reminders. It appears that it is controlled by the media volume, not the ringtone/notifications. So if media is set to 0, and the phone is set to vibrate, then it just vibrates to let you know you have a reminder.

Re: Galaxy s7 External speakers play sound while earbuds are plugged in I pretty much always have my phone on vibrate, but after seeing this thread I thought I would check it. And yep my phone does the same thing.

I actually need to put windows 10 on my laptop, just been so busy at work I haven't wanted to deal with it. Need to sometime soon.
