I have the paid version. From the beginning tap-to-wake worked fine, but tap-to-sleep was broken. I ended up downloading an app called "Screen Off and Lock." After installing, you can then use Nova (in the gestures menu) to run SOaL on a double-tap. Been working perfectly since setting that up.

As another said, get Lightflow. It absolutely has this functionality.

Mine connects to my car automatically as well. Once I established the pairing, every time I get in the car it connects and starts playing whatever the last thing I was listening to. My GS5/4 and Note 2/3 worked exactly the same way.
