You are not required to have cable, but Google TV is not so much a replacement for cable as much as it's an enhancement for cable/satellite. If I didn't have cable, I'd have little use for Google TV.

I'm getting this error after updating: "Sorry, this video cannot be played" This is on the 40" Sony GTV.

I was in the same boat a year ago or so, and I can tell you that Google TV is NOT a replacement. You may want to take a look at The Boxee Box (we might see 2nd Gen hardware soon).

It may have never been an option (I might be thinking of another phone(s)). However, there is no camera shutter sound after the update if you put the phone on silent/vibrate.

I'm 99% sure I had the ability to not have a shutter sound before the 4.04 update. Now it seems to be gone completely. Can anyone confirm? WtF?

As stated, Hulu is a no go. Neither are most networks. However, HDMI passthrough is how GTV is designed so that will work to your liking. I stream quite a bit of (local) content from my computer via Plex and it works pretty good (Not as good as Boxee). The app selection is growing and we've...
