Just curious, because in the past I have seen smartphones I was interested in stop being sold and discontinued just as I was ready to buy one. Is there some sort of unspoken rule these phone makers go by, like fiscal year or financial quarters in which they cease producing last years phone...

I was curious what the typical smartphone user really uses in terms of removable SD storage capacity. I wouldn't consider anything less than 64gb but is 128gb really necessary, and how about 256gb cards?

The reason I ask is that I am wondering if I can avoid data usage by my smartphone by using my home computer and internet to download the apps and then transfer them to the phone via USB. Is there a way to do this or no? Thanks
