Ok I'm not sure what I did wrong but I now have root access but didn't flash the new ROM. It's like I got root but still have the same ROM and everything else

I didn't know where else to post this and this seemed like the most recent thread for this phone: I rooted my phone using the long method described on another thread. I am still using the stock ROM, I have a few questions 1.) are there any other ROM's available for the Virgin Mobile Galaxy S2...
