The issue appears to be related to Android 8.0/8.1 always wanting to transfer in USB 3.1 mode using 128b/132b signalling. Therefore if your motherboard only has USB 3.0 ports that only support 8b/10b signalling, you will likely have issues, unless you use a USB 2.0 cable, which will downgrade...
