    With the phones I have used I haven't bricked them. Follow the guide completely and make sure it is for the model you are on. Don't unplug when it is in the process.

    I am curious which phones would be within the price range of $0-$175 or so that has a decent amount of ROMS available for it as well. It needs to be a GSM phone that can be unlocked. Also it needs to support atleast 3G

    I used AndroidArea51.com's rooted kernel for the Proclaim, the test kernel worked perfectly. Though I had to fix the SD card issue, but that was a verry simple fix.

    I know this thread is old, but in the future for people with Straight talk Proclaim dont try to tether, this will happen, it happened to me. You will have to do a factory reset in order for your phone to work again. Only way to tether this phone is to root it.
