Just now see the voice dictation beep volume source changed following the update that started this. It used to be tied to media volume. It is now connected to ring volume. Unfortunately I can't lower my ring volume much since I have a sideline for my business. Oh well... at least I can see...

Think you found it! It's normal opened from app drawer. I always use the camera button. I reset that programmable button and found the special effect startup was one of many choices. Reset it to auto and all is well!!! :)

Hi and thanks. The phone is Kyocera duraforce pro 2. The keyboard is Google voice typing and gboard.

It doesn't seem possible to launch the camera app from settings.

No screen protector. Interesting about phantom touching but changing effects is multi-step process. Resetting it to default does no undo it. Occasionally things happen spontaneously in other apps. Maybe the screen is a bit sensitive.

Its just the image in the viewfinder with the pencil effect applied. The small paint pallet icon is on the bottom right indicating an effect is being used. I can set it back to normal/default but on reopening the camera, pencil is applied again.

Yes clear data and cache was the first thing I did. Force stop doesn't seem to do anything. I tried clearing cache/data in safe mode but no difference.

This wasn't solved. The problem is almost always the choice of usb cable. All do not support MTP and so the option will not appear if you have the wrong one. You are probably using a cable from another non-data device's charger. Just find the original or any that is a smartphone usb cable...
