You could try a third party gallery app like QuickPic, or see if they show up in Astro. As for backing up without using an anoline service, you could try WiFi explorer to avoid using a cable. It's become one of my most used apps.

I agree with Seidio. They've clothed my phones since my days with a blackberry. I've got my rezound in a Seidio Active case right now. It adds a little bit of bulk but feels good in the hand and adds good protection. It also looks pretty good, in my opinion.

The odd cable connector is, from what I understand, because the port is both charging/data and an HDMI out, with an adapter.
