I have been informed Verizon has locked their bootloaders and towelroot is outdated. I'm running marshmallow and have tried everything, even tried flashing back to an old stock firmware.

No but my friend said flash an older version of the firmware to like 5.0.1 and then use KingRoot. But I haven't got around to trying it.

I used to have this problem. What I did was unplug the router for 30 seconds and plug it back in and wait another 30 seconds. Then I would restart my phone.

My Samsung Galaxy S5 has been doing this random restarting. So I had just received the Marshmallow update and was in the middle of installing it and it rebooted. It seems some of the update works but the UI is still Lollipop.

Go to the app info and see if the notifications box is checked.
If you think it is a Messenger problem from within the app, go to Settings > Notification & Sound, and see what's on and what's off.
Hope it helped.
