So, to answer my own question, when you update to Marshmallow, Moto Assist basically tells you to use the built-in "Do No Disturb" function in Sound and Notifications instead.

I replaced the SMS/messaging app with Google Messenger. So far that's been it. I've seen other people mention the camera app. Anything else the MXPE that doesn't quite cut it right out of the box?

Gmail is not set as a priority app, and on the "Sleeping" screen in Moto, the "Only allow priority interruptions" box is NOT checked. That said, could the "downtime" Android settings in Sound and Notifications (too few posts to link to the Motorola page on this) be trumping the "Sleep" settings...

When I set up "sleep mode" from, say, midnight to 8am everyday, I was under the impression that it silences all notifications during that time, but I'm still getting audio notifications from Gmail. Am I missing something obvious here in the settings? Is anyone else noticing this behavior?

Question about cases: Does your preferred case help with grip to the point where the phone is at least a little bit easier to use in one hand? The combination of size and slickness of the back is my biggest gripe right now.

So my "lift to ear" setting is switched off, and I still get phantom Moto Assists/OK Google activations. This morning I got one in a quiet room, with the phone sitting face up on a table.
