N6P to the new Pixel XL 2

I just made the big move yesterday to a new 64gb iPhone 8 plus after 6 years of Android, most recently the 6p for the last two. My wife and daughter are on iPhones, and after playing with iOS 11 I decided that it's come far enough along that I actually like it. And I've always felt that the...

Google launcher or Nova launcher on the 6p?

I googled "pixel launcher nova launcher backup" and it came up as the top hit. Here's a link to the instructions with info on the backup file all the way at the bottom: https://www.howtogeek.com/285117/how-to-make-nova-launcher-look-and-function-like-the-pixel-launcher/. Good luck!

Google launcher or Nova launcher on the 6p?

There's a Nova Launcher pre-made design that gives you the full Pixel Launcher look and feel. You install NL then download and install a backup file. Works and looks great. Can't remember where I found it, but a little bit of googling should turn it up.

    farewell 6P

Make sure to test out the replacement device with accubattery. Give it a few days to run to really gauge the health of the battery. I got a refurbished replacement device with a battery that was at 85% health, so I ended up requesting a second replacement that checked out at 100%. I still love...

Android pay not compatible with Oreo?

Android Pay is working fine on my 6p running Oreo. Just used it earlier this evening.

The plot thickens, not even able to disable "Google Assistant", much less "Ok Google"...

Re: The plot thickens, not even able to disable "Google Assistant", much less "Ok Google"... I'm not having this issue at all with OK Google, but it should definitely be possible to turn it off. Have you gone into Settings | Google | Search | Voice | "Ok Google" Detection and turned it off...

Google repair policy 6P to Pixel XL

I cracked my 6p screen a couple of weeks ago. I do have Nexus Protect, so I went through the online process via Assurant, including the $80 deductible, and my replacement device was a refurbished Nexus 6p. That's fine with me. I'd hate to lose the dual front facing speakers. The battery on the...

Jeep - Song Titles not displaying after Oreo update

I'm having the same problem in a 2012 Mazda 5 using a Nexus 6p running Oreo. After the update I only see a message that it's streaming via Bluetooth. I used to get Title, Artist, & Album.

OREO and 6P - Questions after the update

Notification dots aren't supported by the Google Now Launcher, and the Pixel Launcher is exclusive to the Pixel devices along with Night Mode, which annoys me greatly. You can download the Pixel Launcher APK, which I've played with, and it works fine, but then I wonder how it gets updated, and I...

September security update / full Oreo install

The new build number that came through for me tonight is OPR6.170623.019. I don't see that build number on the Google OTA download site, which is still showing build number OPR6.170623.013 for the August 5 security patch.

September security update / full Oreo install

I sideloaded the 8.0 update just as soon as the OTA was posted, maybe a week and a half ago now. The "security patch level" was listed as August 5. Tonight I checked updates to see if the September security update was available yet. I received a notification to update to 8.0 with a full 994...

    Next phone?

I'm very torn, personally. Weirdly it's coming back to an issue that I haven't worried about for a while: night mode. It's driving me crazy that Oreo keeps the notification bar so bright, and Twilight doesn't dim it. Of course, the Pixel has night mode. I also find it very annoying that several...

Oreo for 6p now on OTA images site

Well, I guess it's official now. No need to go through the beta program or flash the factory image. The only catch is that the one 6p OTA image that's available says "not for TMO/USCC/Fi".

What's your build number on Oreo?

I haven't installed O yet, but the build number you listed is the same one that's shown on the Oreo factory image site.

    Oreo: Is this delay normal?

The beta program is currently the only way to get the OTA Oreo update until it starts rolling out from Google. Factory images for Oreo are available here: https://developer.android.com/about/versions/oreo/download.html You can flash these images without going through the beta program, but...
