gs5 to gs6 ? is it worth it?

Once someone roots the S6, it will be worth it for me. I upgraded from the S3 to the S5 a year or so ago, and the one BIG issue I have is storage. I'm often outside network areas so I've got a 64GB card full of music... no access to the cloud in those places, so this is important to me. My S3...

How to root your Samsung Galaxy S5

Anybody know ow whether it's possible to use another carrier's rooted and/or unlocked GS5 on Verizon? Depends on bands/frequencies, I know, so perhaps someone here knows whether another US carrier uses the same ones. And then would Verizon allow me to call up and switch another carrier's GS5...

Help finding a messaging app that consolidates SMS, MMS & voicemail

I just sent back my HTC M8 & got a Galaxy S5, & one of the few things I liked about the M8 was it's messaging app. It kept track of both text messages and voicemail, thereby freeing up a little space in my dock. I've been searching to no avail for an app that will do that on my GS5. Funny...

Galaxy S5 vs HTC One (M8)

I've had M8 for a little over a week after breaking my old S3, and I just preordered the S5 as a replacement (all on Verizon). Fortunately I'm on a business account, so I get 30 days and the $35 fee is waived. The M8 has problems that weren't apparent until I used it.... worst thing is that...

    what roms do you suggest?

JellyBeans hands down... I've tried most everything, and always go back to Beanstown's ROMs beacause they're smooth, fast and stable. The battery life on his latest version (v17) is pretty stellar... I'm at 28% after 26 hrs on battery, 3h 46min on screen & I used GPS/Google Tracks for 90minutes...

    Beans ROM

To follow up from my previous posts, I'm travelling in S. America now (specifically Colombia), and both voice and data work flawlessly with Jelly Beans build 13. Just had to call Verizon and choose a global roaming plan before I left (paid for by my work, fortunately), and turn on global...

    Beans ROM

Thanks, great idea! I'll load rooted stock, activate global roaming, create a nandroid backup, then load Beans' latest and activate global roaming on that. I expect everything will work fine once I'm in S. America, but if it doesn't I can load the rooted stock backup. Not sure which of us is...

    Beans ROM

Thanks. Yes, Global Roaming is indeed selectable in settings. But since I need to be 100% sure it will work (since I need to be accessible on my reg. phone #) I hope someone here will chime in & confirm that it worked for them. Otherwise I'll probably chicken out and load rooted, debloated...

    Beans ROM

I'm running JellyBeans build 10 & I'll be travelling in S. America next month. I see that with Verizon's JB update they now call this a global phone... Since Beanstown based this on the Verizon leaked builds, I would guess that I can just call Verizon, get on a global roaming plan and be good...

    Rooting & ROM questions

A couple of updates: 1) rooted on 12/6, & I added a post at the end of the pinned "Sticky: How to Root T-Mobile Galaxy S 2" thread, with updated links and method. 2) My 11yo is in love with his phone! Mostly uses it as an iPod, but for the same price as the new iPod touches, this was a way...

    How to Root T-Mobile Galaxy S 2

Re: OP links broken Figured this out (with a bit of help from around the internets -- thanks to Jacques here at AndroidCentral, and of course those who wrote the ops here and elsewhere) and rooted last night with no trouble. Here's what I did, for those looking to do the same: I basically...

    Rooting & ROM questions

So I bought a T-Mobile GS2 for my son's birthday next week, & I'd like to root it so I can debloat, run AdFree, etc, & perhaps switch ROMs. I've done all that on my GS3 (running Jelly Beans v5, which is flat-out amazing), but need some help on the GS2: First off, is the year-old rooting with...

    How to Root T-Mobile Galaxy S 2

OP links broken I just bought this for my son's birthday, since it's the same price as the iPod he wanted and he needs to get out of the iTunes world asap. Unfortunately, the links in the OP don't work anymore. Could someone please update them, or point me to a more recent thread with working...
