as for: "settings -> wifi -> advanced -> 'auto network switch'" on my new (as of 4/11/14) Note 2, there is no "advanced" option after "settings -> wifi" I see available networks listed and at the screen bottom I see 'Scan" and "wifi direct". Scan seems self-explanatory. NO IDEA what Wifi...
