This happened to me after the 411 update, too. Both maps (even with GPS off) and messages separately eat between 7-15% of my battery daily. I go in and force stop them several times a day to help, but other than that I don't know how to fix it.

I updated to JB last week, but it's only in the past few days that I've been keeping a closer eye on the battery usage. Even though I've sent/received fewer than 15 messages each day, the stock messaging app is using 25%+ of my battery. Yesterday I also noticed that even though my GPS was off...
