What do you think of the Huawei Mate 8...

For me the 1080p screen is the opposite of disappointing, I'm glad they stuck to that resolution. I had the P8Max and even over 6.8 inches 1080p is still fine. I just hope the other display characteristics are good. Anyways, I'll know soon enough, my Mate 8 should arrive next week.

GSMArena Updated Its Audio Quality Tests

I already posted this at Head-Fi, but here is my experience with this: Did a blind and volume-matched test with the One and S4 (i9505 international version with the same DAC as the one). Listened on 12 and 16ohm IEMs and 32ohm cans. First interesting thing was that the Samsung stock player...

Samsung Galaxy S3: Connectivity demo-USB OTG, MHL, BT keyboard

That sounds very unusual, certainly should not be the case at all. Are you on custom ROM/kernel?

    Best headphone for note 2

I use one of these cans with my Note 2: Beyerdynamic T5p, Ultrasone Edition 8, Ultrasone Signature Pro or Audio Technica ATH-W3000ANV. Via a USB DAC/amp I even sometimes use it with my LCD-2 and GS1000i at home at times.

[VIDEO] Galaxy Note Smart Dock Review

Thanks! Interesting to see that the video is persuading some people from people and encouraging others. Yay for informed choice I suppose! Also, just tested the Root-required app Screen Standby - successfully lets you turn off the phone screen but keep using it on the external monitor

Does your Galaxy Note II GT-N7100 overheat?

Mine will get warm when doing intensive gaming or high bitrate HD video, but never hot per se. The S3/Note 2 Exynos SoC uses a technology called High-K+ Metal Gate, which causes a lot less voltage leakage than other SoC designs, and since voltage is dissipated as heat this is why they run cooler...

[VIDEO] Galaxy Note Smart Dock Review

Yeah, shame that it doesn't rotate as it should when docked, but since you can fix it with an app that doesn't require Root its not too much of a biggie. I just learned there are some Root-required apps that can keep the phone running in the background but turn off the screen, will try that out...

[VIDEO] Galaxy Note Smart Dock Review

This is the only device that can do simultaneous USB OTG and HDMI output, so if that is what you are after specifically, then no, there isn't a cheaper option.

[VIDEO] Galaxy Note Smart Dock Review

So I was lucky enough to borrow one of these from Samsung over the last few days, made a video. If you have questions I don't answer in the video ask quickly, as I have to return the dock to them very soon.

[Video] Galaxy Note 2 - MHL, USB OTG, Allshare Cast Dongle & more

Not tried it with a VM setup I'm afraid, surely someone else here can advise though?

[Video] Galaxy Note 2 - MHL, USB OTG, Allshare Cast Dongle & more

Thanks dude! I have not tried Ignition in a long time, but when last I tried it was very pricey and couldn't do sound like Splashtop and didn't accept external keyboard and mouse inputs properly like Splashtop (these may since have been addressed of course, I've been a happy Splashtop user for...

A little demo of some of the things the Note 2 can do for owners and prospective buyers (use the time-stamped nav links in the video description to get around the video):

When 128GB MicroSDXC comes out, will VZW Galaxy S3 support it?

Re: When 128GB MicroSDXC comes out, will VZW Galaxy S3 support it The 64GB cards basically work with virtually anything when formatted to Fat32, I've presonally confirmed this in more than a dozen devices: AndroidNZ: [UPDATE: Confirmed working in the Huawei G300] Sandisk 64GB Micro SDXC cards...

Anyone go from Galaxy Note to SIII?

I went from Note to S3. Loved my Note, but no going back after using an S3 for me (not just the extra fluidity, other things like USB audio and Apt-X that are important to me personally). Look forward to the Note 2 and expect to snap that up as soon as humanly possible to replace the S3.
