I guess you didn't bother to read post #15. Displayport over USB-C is the VESA follow on to slimport. They are both the VESA standards for HDMI over USB. Slimport as a standard only exist over microUSB. The same thing over USB-C is the Displayport Alternate mode defined as port of the USB... -

SlimPort uses defined micro-USB pins for DisplyPort signals. MHL 1 and 2 are a competitors to DisplayPort and are not connector specific, but micro-USB was the most popular. Because it does not have a defined pin out profile, not all micro-USB MHL adapters work for all MHL capable smartphones... -

Does it support full 4k UHD (3840x2160) over DisplayPort? I'm interested it using it to display 4K video directly out to a UHD TV. YouTube compresses 4K (2160p) to death until it looks little better than 1080p, so I'd like a method to display content recorded from my phone.
