I was having the same problem. Tried the tape on the sim card, worked for a day. Finally, last effort before fixing it with a sledge hammer, I, ejected sim and sprayed WD40 down the port. Working fine so far. Don't know whether this is recommended or not. But if I get a few weeks more, I'm happy.
