I'm not positive about how the theming works but light/dark mode definitely does. The "delete" option appears in the pulldown after you uncheck the "confirm deletions" toggle in the options menu.

I have no real complaints about my Note 8 but for the 9 I wouldn't mind: a bigger battery, a 4k screen for improved Gear VR quality, support for Samsung's UFS cards instead of micro sd (if they're still a thing), enough audio improvements to get ahead of competitors like the V30.
