Well the Xposed framework Alpha does work okay on LL actually (just not on TW based ROMs).

Alot of different ways. Manually editing the build prop file. Or maybe easiest is to download the "Wanam app" from Play store and activate "SD card permissions". Or install Xposed framework and search for any sdcard permission module within it (but I think Wanam is easier for you) and activate it.

Root alone doesn't give apps access to ex sdcard. You now (due to root access) can change the permissions to your liking.

Well, in a perfect world that would be ideal of course. But all new OS (MS, Apple, Google etc) have major flaws after new releases. It's just a fact since there is no company that can simulate thousands, or millions, of users way to use the OS. The resources are just not there for this kind of...
