Have you tried editing the mentioned photo in phone's default editor or a third party app besides Instagram? Try doing that and if it doesn't shut down when you edit it in the other app then instagram has some issues with your phone,if not then it's most probably the hardware

claring data from email app doesn't have any effect on the actual account you are using. Clearing data removes any settings you've changed (example-you turned syncing off and by clearing app data will set that setting back to on asuming that the default setting was "syncing->on"

yeah i figured as much it's not really a phone for gaming besides it's 5" display i get around 25 fps on Modern Combat 4 but San Andreas works just fine and don't get me wrong i don't play such games a lot maybe half an hour before i go to sleep,usually i play candy crush
