Model : Samsung galaxy note 2 gt-n7100 android version : 4.1.1 My main concern is - since I live in India and the phone was bought in Oman, if I update the firmware of my Note 2 with the firmware which I downloaded in India, is there any risk that my phone will brick?

I live in India and have bought my Note 2 from Oman in November 2012. Recently, I have been getting too many reminders from Samsung to update my firmware. I am scared that if I download and update the software my phone may crash and since the warranty is covered only in Oman, I will be stranded...
