Google sunshine unlock works perfectly. It's a small cost of $25.00 but I'm on Verizon HTC one m8 unlocked and s-off. And completely stable.

I did the update after I ran RUU and returned to stock everything including recovery. I'm a little experienced with this from having my S4. If you still have custom recovery it will not install. However s-off and unlocked it will still install update. As long as it's stock recovery. Google...
