Just upgraded to Lollipop - Now I want to do a Factory Reset - What will I Lose?

To correct some of the answers. You say you "Just upgraded to Lollipop almost a week ago". Sp after the factory reset it will be exactly as it was almost a week ago at the moment at the first start after the upgrade to L

Forced Android updates - what are the logic and the legal situation?

tl;dr - Where is the "skip this update" checkbox on the firmware upgrade screen? If I buy a PC or a laptop running Windows 8 and I decide I don't like Win 8 I can simply install Win 7, XP, Vista, even Linux and so on. Because it is my PC, that I payed money for and now own, I can put on it...

Hitchhiker's guide to the Material design or Something called Lollipop is doing things to my phone, how can I find this?

Well, there is not really a point of part 2 of the initial post. I read quite a lot of comments written in the past months about the 5.x and the Material design. Some people love the new design style, others hate it, It looks like a rock fan and a Justin Bieber fan arguing about music... The...

Hitchhiker's guide to the Material design or Something called Lollipop is doing things to my phone, how can I find this?

Well, I somehow assumed that the don't panic is automatically associated with the title :-) Right now we are at the point where Google is reading vogon poetry to us while we are being tied to a pole by the mobile operators. The fact that "Google will come to their senses eventually" is not...

Hitchhiker's guide to the Material design or Something called Lollipop is doing things to my phone, how can I find this?

Hitchhiker's guide to the Material design or Something called Lollipop is doing things to my phone First - the purpose of this post is to help the "average" users understand what have suddenly happened to their phones. It is a result of some searches and research I've done in the past days...

Is there a way to turn off the notification pop up that takes up like 1/4 of the screen?

I can assume the persistence of the notification spam is because of a problem with my phone. This is the reply I got at the Hangouts product forum: "This is an android 5.0 feature, not hangouts. You can swipe this message away if you feel it is in your way. Swiping it away in 5.0, 5.0.1 or...

Is there a way to turn off the notification pop up that takes up like 1/4 of the screen?

There would not be so much complaints about that if there was a way to dismiss them. Everything that has been done to the notifications in the update we got is simply bringing chaos to something that was working quite OK and was working in an understandable ways. I guarantee 95% of the users...

Is there a way to turn off the notification pop up that takes up like 1/4 of the screen?

I'm using 5.0.1 on Galaxy S4. I tried swiping left, right, up, down, Back button, everything. I got frustrated and I just left the phone on the table. 5 minutes later when I picked it up the big white notification banner was still there.

Is there a way to turn off the notification pop up that takes up like 1/4 of the screen?

As I said earlier, you can not swipe it away. And it will not disappear by itself. The Back button also does not help as it is handled by the app that you were actually using before the banner appeared. The only thing you can do is stop what you were doing and open the message. Or completely...

Is there a way to turn off the notification pop up that takes up like 1/4 of the screen?

This is most probably a Samsung phone. Lots of users got updates in the past days and are now in full panic mode because of how their phone looks and behaves. Given the Samsung's track record I don't believe we can expect an update to 5.1 any time soon.

Is there a way to turn off the notification pop up that takes up like 1/4 of the screen?

On 5.0.1 it is not possible to dismiss this banner. You have to open the message in order to keep using the phone. I've asked this question on the Hangouts product forum, hope they will have some answer. If not it seem the solution is to disable all apps that misuse the phone in such ways...

How do I stop notifications on my unlocked screen?

Re: Notifications on unlocked screen The problem is that it is not simply about videos. Because the big white banner pops-up on top of all screens regardless of what you are doing (reading, browsing, playing a game) you are forced to immediately stop it and go to the message. There is no...

Can I get some help with a Samsung Lollipop question?

Re: Samsung Lollipop question The same functionality was already there (You never had to unlock the phone in order to use the emergency dealer). What they did is make it worse in two ways: 1. Before you just have to tap the text in order to open it. Now you have to slide from a specific small...

Can I get some help with a Samsung Lollipop question?

Samsung Lollipop question Hello, My Galaxy S4 upgraded on Friday and I'm almost over the shock and dismay at the way my phone looks and behaves now and I'm getting into terms with the reality that I'll need to live with an interface designed for kids and teenage girls from now on. However...
