If you go into settings > application manager, you can select an app and clear it's cache. Now if you're talking about clearing up the phones RAM there's a built in task manager, depending on the phone manufacturer, that you can use to do this (clear the RAM that is).

Out of what you listed calling and sms will NOT use up data, MMS might, but it's so minimal you may not notice it. Play music doesn't use data unless you're streaming music you have stored on the [google] cloud, otherwise you're able to select 'music on device', as well as turn on 'stream over...
