Very true...the general consumer would be ignorant to the fact that they are being restricted. And even if they did, would they care? For change to occur, one has to be informed, then one has to care, and lastly take action.

Very true, but one has to be very tech savvy to do this and most people simply aren't, so for the general consumer the iPhone is walled-garden that leaves you trapped in Apple's "ecosystem."

If you approach it with the idea that it has to somehow kill the iPhone, then you're setting yourself up for disappointment. You have to judge the device on it's own merit, otherwise you'll never see it for what it is; you'll constantly compare it to the iPhone.
