Quite well, someone backed into me last week. Your analogy is broken, had my car exploded caused by a 3 mph collision, your comparison may have worked.
From Corning... "The water-resistant Samsung GALAXY S7 edge has a dual-edge design and Quad HD Super AMOLED 5.5-inch display featuring damage-resistant Corning® Gorilla® Glass 4 on both sides of the device." And my phone takes an otherwise innocuous fall in a case yet suffers a broken screen...
I had an 18" drop in an otter box symmetry, cracked screen. A buddy had a waist high drop, completely destroyed. I dropped my s5 constantly and never had an issue. I'd be willing to bet something comes out from Samsung or corning saying the glass is faulty.
My break happened four days in, was housed in an otter box symmetry. 15" out of pocket from a lawn chair into blacktop. My S5 got dropped weekly, walked away with a few dents on the bezel. This phone is trash, glad I'm stuck with it for two years.
