Thanks. I did look with Wi-fi Analyzer and the channels my router was picking where somewhat congested. I change channels and the lag went away. I never would have guessed this was a wi-fi problem because the monitor is right by the router and the TV which is upstairs did not have the problem...

Yup, I was using the same wi-fi networking when screen casting to both the monitor and the TV. In fact when screen casting to the monitor, the Chromecast and phone were within a few feet of the wi-fi router. I don't understand the difference between the TV and monitor. Seems very strange...

I did have a problem with the charger dock snap on mechanism with the Gear Live I bought from Google play. After about two week, it would not snap on any more. However I called Google and they exchanged the watch. So far so good with the second watch.

I see now, the direction keys (up, down, left, right) and the select key on the TV remote allow me to get into the settings and turn off HDCP. That did the trick and it works now. Was not obvious to me to use the TV remote though.
