My S7 normally gets hot under load. The battery temperature can read from 102 to 99 degrees Fahrenheit under load, and this has never caused a problem up until now.

I do not have a screen protector on.

The touchscreen issues persisted in safe mode. Does this mean it is a hardware issue? EDIT: The issues seem to appear the most when the phone is running hot.
