Lower battery life than the s5 would do it for me. I can handle a non removable battery if the battery itself is a good performer.

My lg g3 doesn't over heat at all. I've had it since launch. You should definitely get it replaced before making a decision. My wife's iphone 6 gets pretty warm when screen brightness is high, around the edges is where it's warmest. Every phone has quirks but sounds like most your issues are...

I'm definitely in LTE area as all of my previous phones have supported 4G lte here without a problem. I came from an s4 and a G3 so unfortunately neither of those take a nono sim for me to try it in. That's a good idea though. The guy at att put the apn settings in, maybe I need to try...
