Since I stopped charging it overnight, my phone doesn't do this. I have to keep an eye on when the charge is full and unplug the charger then.

This sounds exactly like my problem. I'm an ordinary user no bells or whistles, the phone is as o2 gave it to me. I have no battery saving apps installed (in fact hardly any apps at all installed).

Just a neoprene sleeve.
