    Tapping space in texting apps

Thanks for all your input, and I'll try some suggestions later, as I have found out how to do what I wanted. All you need to do is tap the Upper Case Arrow on the left side of the keyboard once or twice, and the emoticon button turns into a New Line button.

    Text message sizing

This is kinda funny. I just posted “Tapping space in texting apps”. Exact opposite problem. Subscribing to your thread. Maybe we'll both get lucky. Good luck. ponderoni

    Tapping space in texting apps

Fairly new to smartphones, definitely new to Moto G. When I compose a text in Messaging or Hangout, a max of three lines is ever visible in the composing window. This makes it extremely difficult to scan the entire text before I send. Scrolling is almost impossible. Attempting to edit is like...

How do I use HTC One V as card reader/upload device?

I was brainstorming with a Telus person and realized that I can take the (micro) SD card out of the camera and install it into the HTC. They said that should work. I tried it and it does work. In fact, since I have Dropbox on my phone and computer, the pictures are already on my computer when I...

How do I use HTC One V as card reader/upload device?

I want to transfer pictures from my older Nikon to my HTC One V so that I can then upload them to Dropbox/internet/whatever. Is this possible, and if so, how? The camera does have a USB connector to download to a computer. It also has a removable SD card if that's the only way I can do it...

    Sizing documents for smaller screens

I recently got my first smartphone, an HTC One V. It seems like a great little workhorse, but has some issues - mostly due to size. How do I read long, wide documents without having to scroll like crazy (and go blind in the process)? Some websites have a "Read" option that allows this. Is there...

    Issues reading from SD card

I just installed X-plore. Will explore it ASAP. Thanks for the lead.

    Issues reading from SD card

I am often in areas where I get no phone reception and no WiFi. I'd like to be able to access documents and files offline from my SD card. I tried copying from my computer to my SD card (with the card in the phone) the following: - images I "saved as" from websites - screenshots - a PDF...

Would like notification sounds off, phone ring on

Thanks, everyone. jc411, your post is the one that got through my thick skull. I'm sure that this is what neil154 and mitri360 were saying, but I just didn't see the appropriate tab(s) before. You all get a Thanks.

Would like notification sounds off, phone ring on

Mitri360, Thank you for your thought, but I've done that already (and gone over my settings again since your suggestion) to no avail. I even downloaded Volume Manager app from Google Play. Even when I reduce Notification volume in the app, Ringer volume goes down with it. Neil154, I am running...

Security case for HTC One V

I bought a Speck case with my One V then immediately installed Ghost Armor, so daily use is a non-issue. Problem is, I'm soon to travel to some ... uh, sketchy ... areas where pick-pocketing, bag-knifing, and other petty thievery is common. I would like to attach a tough lanyard to the case (to...

Would like notification sounds off, phone ring on

Just got a One V a while ago and was wondering: How do I keep the phone ringer on at night (to receive urgent calls), while turning off email and text notifications (so I can sleep)? Seems they are all on or all off. Thanks.

Why do some Apps Demand so many Permissions?!!!

I am new to smartphones and have been appalled at the permissions "necessary" to some apps. I understand why the flashlight needs to access your camera flash, but others are nuts! Why does any app need to be able to (I apologize in advance for my newbie Cut and Paste technique.): MODIFY OR...

SD card for One V - basics

Let me start by saying that I'm a newbie at this, though I'd like to learn a fair bit more about rooting and booting and stuff. ;) I've recently acquired my first smartphone, an HTC One V . Some apps and things wouldn't install if I didn't install an SD card, so I just slapped in a formatted 2...
