Gapps.zip is a custom recovery install (you would leave it in the zip and install zip from sd card in recpvery) that is not stock recovery. You would odin flash that. Do not unpack it. You do not haft to be rooted to have a custom recovery on most devices. Your device may vary Sent from my...
