Hi, you don't have to do a Hard Reset. From what I read and performed all you have to do is 1. go into Settings->Apps 2. Clear cache and data for both Hangouts and Project FI 3. Reboot your phone 4. Lastly go through the Project FI re-activation on your phone and you're set. Hope this helps...
